Project

From Fragmented to Unified: A POS Transformation Story

The Challenge

A much-loved and respected household name, this leading UK homeware brand has gone from strength to strength. Always a favourite with shoppers, its wholehearted leap into the world of online shopping has created exponential growth for the brand in recent years, with its stores now numbering 200 and increasing.

As is the case with many fast-growing businesses, the hardware infrastructure used at point of sale (POS) in stores can rapidly become dated – not fit for purpose in today’s fast, consumer-driven dynamic. The brand eventually found itself working with three different POS hardware suppliers, as well as their incumbent software supplier. Not a recipe for the seamless, cross-store customer experience the brand wanted to achieve. Enter BOXTEC.

Previously using 3 POS vendors, BOXTEC unified operations with a single integrated solution

Worked closely with the software provider Enactor

The Solution

Requiring significant integration with their existing software supplier, as well as a complex installation instore, BOXTEC designed hardware and casing that would be safe, suitable and durable for each location we were working with.

Like many large retailers, they are moving away from having a one-stop-shop for hardware, software and technical support: preferring instead to manage their systems in-house. In this instance, they wanted a system that they could manage remotely, reducing their reliance on engineers to fix issues. To solve this challenge, we introduced Inefi Spotlight – a BOXTEC designed piece of device management software – to give them the control they needed.

What clients say

Leading UK Homeware Brand

The self-checkout pilot in our stores has been a hit, with fantastic feedback from both customers and our teams. We look forward to continuing this journey together!

Leading UK Homeware Brand

Working with the team at BOXTEC has been one of the easiest transition projects. They truly understand the needs of the retailer and go above and beyond to deliver solutions that work and add value. It’s not a supplier- customer role; they really work as part of our team.

Working with BOXTEC has given our independent business back its independence. They took our wishlist and made it into a working reality for us.

The team at BOXTEC has managed the project from end to end without a hitch. We’re excited for the next phase of this project, where we can bring our customers the unified, cross-store experience we’re building toward.

The Outcome

Having installed over 400 POS units, in 50% of the brand’s store estate, we’re already rolling-up our sleeves to begin phase two of this mass-scale rollout. Half of the group’s estate is now operating to maximum efficiency at POS, with the second half to follow suit within the next 12 months. The customer centric experience that they wanted to achieve is widely in evidence in store – not to mention the safer and more aesthetically pleasing look of their POS positions.
