Capper & Co Ltd wanted to discontinue the existing PoS system in its 400 SPAR stores nationwide. It needed an innovative retail solution that wouldn’t just replace the existing platform, but would take its retail technology to the next generation. In the convenience sector, ease of shopping is paramount, so an PoS solution was needed to give time-poor customers a quick, easy and enjoyable shopping experience and keep them coming back for more.
Box Technologies was appointed to help find a complete solution. The primary objective was to upgrade the existing customer interface hardware and software, from cash drawers to touch screen monitors and bespoke SpacePoles. The improved technology needed to be visually appealing, whilst ensuring in-store efficiency for both customers and store personnel. Box Technologies collaborated with Capper & Co to develop a solution that would meet these requirements, alongside an attractive layout, look and feel within its stores. The bespoke solution consisted of a Toshiba Modular PoS system, with a scanner, cash drawer, printer and bespoke SpacePole.
The revolutionary retail technology proved a great success, visually and in performance. It has reduced maintenance costs and SPAR stores report increased footfall and enhanced customer engagement. Staff are also delighted as the new solution is user-friendly, and stores which do not yet have the new platform are constantly requesting it.
“The appearance and layout of our stores is incredibly important; our customers need to be able to find what they’re looking for in an instant. We need our stores to offer convenience shopping at its absolute best and we looked to Box Technologies to help us achieve this. We were looking for a trusted brand and a reliable pre-sales support service. We didn’t want to just buy off-the-shelf, we needed the expertise and guidance to get it exactly right and that’s where Box came in. Box didn’t just come up with standard answers or stock solutions, they were incredibly flexible. They were prepared to take a step back, to review our requirements and identify opportunities to evolve our in-store presence.”
